Marta Gómez number seven in Europe
Colombian singer-songwriter Marta Gómez is ranked number seven on the European World Music Charts. The contestants are selected by a committee based in Germany.
Marta Gómez performs a fascinating variety of rhythms from all over Latin America including Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru and Argentina. Only a month after releasing her album Solo Es Vivir, singer-songwriter Marta Gómez, found herself opening for blues legend Bonnie Raitt in Boston. Originally from Colombia, the singer started to compose songs exploring her roots, but when she met Argentinian guitarist and composer Julio Santillán and percussionist Franco Pinna; they decided to share their musical backgrounds to create and perform a distinctive blend of music that reflects the sound and culture of South America. Gómez started her musical studies at the age of six in her native Colombia when she entered the Liceo Benalcazar choir being its soloist for ten years. She has also developed an extensive studio career recording for radio and TV for more than ten years in her native Colombia, and in the United States. In May 2005 Gómez was chosen by Fucsia a Colombian magazine as of the twenty-five "Most representative Colombian Women of the Year".
